Scheffler recovers awry ball in Open first round

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler posted a 2-under 68 in the first round of the 154th Open Championship despite hitting a wayward shot deep into the grass. Scheffler was able to recover from the errant ball to finish the opening round at 2-under par. The 154th Open Championship is being held at Royal Birkdale in 2026.
