Schilder breaks Diamond League record with 21.09m in Shanghai

Jessica Schilder threw a Diamond League record of 21.09m in the shot put at the season-opening Wanda Diamond League meeting in Shanghai on May 16, 2026, producing the best mark in the world for 14 years. The throw, achieved in the fifth round, improved her own Dutch record by 40cm and broke Valerie Adams' Diamond League record set in 2012. It also moved Schilder to 29th on the world all-time list and made her the newest member of the 21-metre club since 2009, with world indoor champion Chase Jackson also reaching 20.46m in the same competition.
