Schlittler drilled by 108.5 mph liner, throws 6 shutout innings anyway
New York Yankees pitcher Cam Schlittler was struck by a 108.5 mph comebacker off his left calf in the first inning during Saturday's game against the Milwaukee Brewers, but gutted through the pain to throw six scoreless innings, striking out six and allowing just two hits. The performance lowered his ERA to 1.35, though the Yankees ultimately lost 4-3 in 10 innings. Manager Aaron Boone had praised Schlittler's fastball before the game, comparing him to Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski, who had dominated New York the previous night.
