Scotland name Pocognoli as boss after poor WC

Sébastien Pocognoli, 39, has been appointed as Scotland's new head coach on a two-year contract, succeeding Steve Clarke who stepped down in June 2025 after Scotland failed to advance past the group stage at their first World Cup in 28 years. The Belgian previously managed Union St.-Gilloise to the Belgian title before joining Monaco in October, where he was sacked after the club finished seventh in Ligue 1. Pocognoli becomes Scotland's second foreign manager, following Berti Vogts who held the role from 2002 to 2004.
