Scottish FA criticises McInnes and media after referee requires police protection
The Scottish FA has strongly condemned what it called a 'hysterical media narrative' and criticised Hearts manager Derek McInnes after a match official and his family required police protection following the leaking of personal details online. The controversy stems from two disputed penalty decisions at Motherwell: a stoppage-time spot-kick awarded to Celtic in their Wednesday win, which McInnes labelled 'disgusting', and a rejected penalty claim from Hearts' earlier fixture at the same ground. Hearts travel to Celtic on Saturday needing a draw to become the first non-Old Firm Scottish Premiership champions in 41 years.
