Seamie Heffernan given 24-day whip ban for winning Royal Ascot ride
Irish jockey Seamie Heffernan has received a 24-day ban and a £2,800 fine after being found to have used his whip three times above the permitted level in the final two furlongs of the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot, where his mount Thesecretadversary won at 20-1 odds. The penalty was doubled due to the race being a Class 1 event. His suspension runs from July 20 to August 12, ruling him out of the Galway festival and Glorious Goodwood, while Japanese jockey Katsuma Sameshima also received a seven-day ban for a separate whip violation during the Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes.
