Sebastian Berhalter, 25, is finalizing a transfer to English Championship club Middlesbrough from Vancouver Whitecaps for a fee of around $2 million during the summer transfer window. The U.S. national team midfielder, who was held out of Vancouver's 4-3 loss to FC Cincinnati as the deal progressed, was out of contract this winter but Boro opted to pay a fee rather than wait.
