Bowen Byram scored a hat trick, including the overtime winner 29 seconds into the extra period, as the Chicago Blackhawks defeated the Minnesota Wild 4-3 in their NHL preseason game at United Center on Monday, September 21. Byram, who was acquired from the Buffalo Sabres on June 23 and signed a six-year, $75 million contract with Chicago on July 1, was making his Blackhawks debut. Nick Lardis also contributed a goal and an assist, while goaltender Spencer Knight made 19 saves in the victory.
