Serena Williams discusses tennis comeback for first time, leaves door to playing singles open

Serena Williams, 44, is making her first professional tennis appearance in nearly four years at the Queen's Club grass tournament in London, competing in the women's doubles alongside 19-year-old Canadian Victoria Mboko. The 23-time Grand Slam champion, who last played professionally at the 2022 U.S. Open, has not ruled out a return to singles competition, stating she wants to play singles but will see if she gets there. Williams, a seven-time Wimbledon singles champion who spent 319 weeks as world No. 1, said she does not need to win but is motivated by the atmosphere and the opportunity to compete in front of her family, including her youngest daughter who has never seen her play professionally.
