Severe storms knock out power to thousands across North Alabama

Severe storms swept through North Alabama on Thursday night, knocking out power to thousands of residents across the region. In Madison County alone, Huntsville Utilities reported approximately 7,000 customers without electricity, while Decatur Utilities also responded to widespread outages in its service area. Both utility providers have activated restoration crews and are urging residents to avoid downed power lines and not attempt to clear debris from utility lines.
