Shane van Gisbergen captures the pole for inaugural NASCAR race at Naval Base Coronado

Shane van Gisbergen of Trackhouse Racing captured the pole position for the inaugural NASCAR Cup Series race at Naval Base Coronado near San Diego on Saturday, June 20, 2026. He posted a qualifying lap of 2 minutes, 14.788 seconds around the 16-turn, 3.4-mile street course. Van Gisbergen outpaced all other Cup Series drivers on the challenging street circuit despite reportedly not being at his absolute best.
