Shaw Captures Eighth Straight Title at CIAA Women’s Tennis Championship

Shaw University claimed its eighth consecutive CIAA Women's Tennis Championship on April 25, 2026, defeating Bluefield State University 4-2 at Virginia State University in Ettrick, Va. Shaw controlled the doubles portion early, then secured the title with singles victories at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions after Bluefield State leveled the match at 2-2. The Lady Bears were dominant throughout the two-day tournament, also posting 4-0 wins over Virginia Union University in the quarterfinals and Virginia State University in the semifinals.
