Shelton downs Tiafoe in all-American SF, into first Grand Slam final at US Open

Ben Shelton, the eighth seed, defeated fellow American Frances Tiafoe 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 in the US Open semi-finals on Friday to reach his first Grand Slam final. Shelton will face top seed Alexander Zverev in the final on Sunday, with a chance to end a 23-year drought for American men's Grand Slam singles titles since Andy Roddick won at Flushing Meadows in 2003. Shelton previously upset defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals, while Zverev, who leads their head-to-head 5-0, reached the final after defeating Karen Khachanov.
