Sherman Lewis, a former NFL assistant coach, died on Friday at the age of 83, as confirmed by Michigan State University. Lewis won four Super Bowl championships as an assistant coach, including three with the San Francisco 49ers during the 1984, 1988, and 1989 seasons under head coach Bill Walsh, and one with the Green Bay Packers. He was also a standout college player, earning All-American honors and finishing as a Heisman Trophy finalist as a running back for Michigan State in 1963.
