Shesterkin scores Rangers 1st goalie goal in win against Lightning

Igor Shesterkin became the first goalie in New York Rangers history to score a goal, netting an unassisted empty-net goal at 17:26 of the third period to cap a 5-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Madison Square Garden on Thursday. Shesterkin, who also made 24 saves, is now the 18th goalie in NHL history to score, marking the 21st goalie goal ever recorded in the league. Pavel Dorofeyev scored and recorded his first two points as a Ranger, while Mika Zibanejad added a goal and an assist in the team's home opener.
