Shin Ohashi, 17, breaks 200m breaststroke world record, becomes first man to finish under 2:05

Japanese swimmer Shin Ohashi, aged 17, broke the 200m breaststroke world record at the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya on September 24, 2026, finishing in a time of 2:04.83 at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre. The performance made him the first man in history to complete the event in under 2 minutes and 5 seconds. Ohashi won the gold medal with the record-breaking swim.
