Six Arab federations back Infantino as FIFA chief

The football federations of Morocco, Qatar, Egypt, Mauritania, Lebanon, and Sudan issued a joint statement on Thursday expressing 'full support' and 'confidence' in FIFA president Gianni Infantino amid a leadership crisis. Infantino had faced significant backlash from global football officials over his plan to sell World Cup stakes to private equity investors in a $20 billion proposal, which he ultimately withdrew. Four of the six signatories to the statement are FIFA council members, making their backing particularly significant.
