Six-year ban for top marathon runner who submitted fake prescription
Ethiopian marathon runner Ruti Aga has received a six-year ban after anti-doping investigators determined she submitted a fraudulent prescription to justify a failed drug test. Aga, who won the Tokyo Marathon in 2019 and podiumed at Berlin and New York, tested positive for the banned substance methylprednisolone following a half-marathon in China in March. The Athletics Integrity Unit found that the clinic she named did not exist and that the prescription was signed by a family member rather than a doctor.
