Sonay Kartal falls short in Wuhan Open final

Sonay Kartal lost the Wuhan Open final to Maja Chwalinska 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, missing out on the biggest title of her career. Chwalinska claimed her first WTA 1000 trophy and first WTA Tour title at any level, having fought back from a set and a break down. Despite the defeat, Kartal, ranked 170th in the world, will rise to a career-high ranking of 50 and become British No. 1 for the first time.
