Sources: Balogun late U-turn ended Everton move
Folarin Balogun's £40 million ($54m) move from Monaco to Everton collapsed after the 25-year-old USMNT forward had a change of heart after midnight on transfer deadline day, despite travelling to Merseyside and completing a medical at Everton's Finch Farm training ground. The deal had been complicated by an unspecified issue arising during Balogun's medical, requiring renegotiation between the clubs, and Everton had also unsuccessfully attempted a loan move for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee in the interim. Balogun's return to Monaco leaves Everton manager David Moyes short of attacking options, having already offloaded forwards Beto and Iliman Ndiaye on deadline day.
