Sources: Simeone, Álvarez hold talks at Atlético

Atlético Madrid coach Diego Simeone and forward Julián Álvarez held a private 10-minute meeting at the club's Cerro del Espino training complex on Wednesday to discuss Álvarez's desire to leave the club this summer. Álvarez, who publicly revealed his wish to depart while on Argentina World Cup duty, is understood to prefer a move to Barcelona, where he is seen as a priority signing to replace Robert Lewandowski. Atlético have rejected transfer approaches including a €150 million ($173m) offer from Real Madrid, with CEO Miguel Angel Gil Marín insisting Álvarez's contract is not for sale.
