Southampton: 'Spygate' punishment 'unheard of'

Southampton are facing further punishment over the 'Spygate' scandal, with coach Tonda Eckert charged with misconduct by the Football Association after the club admitted to spying on three opponents' training sessions. The club was previously ejected from last season's Championship playoffs — costing them a minimum £200 million promotion opportunity — and docked four points in the current campaign. Southampton's CEO Phil Parsons and Eckert have both argued the club has already received one of the largest sanctions in football history and that any additional penalty should account for what they have already suffered.
