Spain held by minnows Cape Verde in one of World Cup's biggest ever shocks

Spain, the European champions, were held to a 0-0 draw by Cape Verde in their FIFA World Cup opening match, in what is being described as one of the biggest shocks in the tournament's history. Despite dominating possession, Spain were repeatedly frustrated by the Cape Verdean defense and brought on teenage star Lamine Yamal with around 20 minutes remaining. Even Yamal's introduction could not break the deadlock, leaving Spain with just one point from their opening group game.
