Stafford’s $55M Extension Makes Him NFL’s First $500M Player

The Los Angeles Rams signed quarterback Matthew Stafford to a one-year, $55 million contract extension, keeping him with the team through the 2027 season with $105 million in remaining compensation. Stafford, who earned his first MVP award in his 17-year career, was already the NFL's all-time career earnings leader at $408 million through 2025. If he plays the 2027 season, he will become the first NFL player ever to surpass $500 million in playing salary.
