State Golden Gloves boxing championships returning to Dunmore

Promoter Doug Long has secured the rights to host part of Pennsylvania's Golden Gloves Central District tournament in March 2027, marking a return to Northeastern Pennsylvania after previously hosting portions in 2022 and off and on since 1998. The tournament will be split between two sites, with Unite Boxing Club in Harrisburg hosting preliminary bouts on March 6 and semifinals on March 20, while Long will host the quarterfinals on March 13 and district finals on March 27 at the Holiday Inn Scranton East in Dunmore. Long cited the Holiday Inn venue's reputation as one of the best locations for amateur boxing in the state as a key reason for the tournament's return.
