Stats: Antonelli scores first home win for an Italian Formula 1 driver in 36 years
Andrea Kimi Antonelli won his home Italian Grand Prix in 2026, becoming the first Italian F1 driver to win on home soil since Riccardo Patrese's victory at Imola in 1990. Starting from 19th on the grid, Antonelli's victory was one of the greatest comebacks in F1 history, with only John Watson's 1983 win from 22nd place coming from a lower starting position in a world championship round. The win was Antonelli's seventh career victory, equalling teammate George Russell's tally, and also marked the 50th grand prix victory for an Italian driver.
