Strand stuns Ingebrigtsen and Hocker as records tumble in Silesia

At the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial in Chorzów on August 23, 23-year-old American Ethan Strand won the men's 1500m in 3:30.77, stunning Olympic champion Cole Hocker (third, 3:31.16) and Jakob Ingebrigtsen (fourth, 3:31.19) despite being 11th at the 800m mark. Lithuanian Mykolas Alekna smashed his own Diamond League discus record with a throw of 72.58m, while Oblique Seville won the 100m in 9.83 as all nine finalists broke 10 seconds for the first time in history. The meeting produced seven meeting records and two world leads in total.
