Supreme Court denies NFL appeal, allowing Brian Flores’ discrimination lawsuit to proceed
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday denied the NFL's appeal to have former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores' racial discrimination lawsuit settled through arbitration, allowing the case to proceed toward trial in open court in New York. Flores, who is Black, filed the lawsuit in 2022 following his firing as Dolphins head coach, alleging the league is 'rife with racism' in the hiring and retention of Black head coaches, coordinators, and general managers. The ruling is a significant legal setback for the NFL, which had sought to keep the dispute out of the public court system.
