Supreme Court rejects NFL's bid to step into coach Brian Flores' racial discrimination suit
The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to hear an appeal from the NFL, allowing coach Brian Flores' racial discrimination lawsuit to proceed in federal court rather than through private arbitration overseen by Commissioner Roger Goodell. The case, originally filed in early 2022, names the NFL, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos as defendants, with Flores alleging systemic racial discrimination against Black coaches in hiring decisions. Flores is joined in the suit by coaches Steve Wilks and Ray Horton; Justice Brett Kavanaugh was the lone voice indicating he would have taken up the case.
