Mariano Navone, ranked World No. 49, defeated Novak Djokovic 7-6 (5), 5-7, 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the first round of the 2026 US Open on Arthur Ashe Stadium in a match lasting four hours and 40 minutes. It marked Djokovic's first Grand Slam first-round defeat since the 2006 Australian Open, where he lost to Paul Goldstein, ending a streak of 37 consecutive wins in the first two rounds at Flushing Meadows.
