Turkish tennis player Zeynep Sönmez, world No. 66, was forced to retire from a French Open women's doubles match on Friday after tripping over a Lacoste-branded advertising block at the back of the court while running to hit a backhand. The incident occurred in just the third game of her match alongside Tatjana Maria against Dayana Yastremska and Anhelina Kalinina, with Sönmez sustaining a right knee injury and a cut to the knee. As a result, opponents Yastremska and Kalinina were awarded the victory at 2-0 and advanced to the third round.
