Tennis player says female umpire wasn’t strong enough to officiate French Open match
Paraguayan tennis player Adolfo Daniel Vallejo, 22, sparked controversy after his French Open second-round loss to 17-year-old French player Moïse Kouame on Thursday, claiming the match should have been officiated by a man. Vallejo criticized umpire Ana Carvalho, saying women lack the 'strength' to manage a demanding crowd, after he blew a 5-3 lead in the fifth set to lose 6-3, 7-5, 3-6, 2-6, 7-6(8). He specifically accused Carvalho of failing to control Kouame's alleged time-wasting during the 17-year-old's major tournament debut.
