Tennis slams’ refusal to discuss money is slap in face for players who are right to threaten boycott | Tumaini Carayol
World No 1 Aryna Sabalenka warned at the Italian Open that top tennis players may boycott grand slam tournaments, calling it the only way to fight for their rights in an ongoing pay dispute. The players first sent a letter to the grand slams in March 2025, requesting a greater share of tournament revenues, contributions to welfare initiatives such as pension funds, and the establishment of a grand slam player council. Over a year later, the grand slams have still not issued substantial responses to the first two requests, escalating tensions between players and tournament organizers.
