‘That’s eight more losses for our conference’: Steve Sarkisian questions SEC’s nine-game schedule

Texas Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian publicly questioned the SEC's decision to move to a nine-game conference schedule in the 2026 season, arguing that coaches had reservations about the format from the start. Sarkisian noted that the expanded conference slate adds more losses across the league, pointing out that with nine games, the conference collectively accumulates eight additional losses compared to an eight-game schedule. The comments came after Texas dropped two SEC games, putting their College Football Playoff chances in jeopardy.
