Tadej Pogačar attacked on the Col du Tourmalet with 5km to go before the summit during Stage 6 of the 2026 Tour de France, held on Wednesday, 29 July 2026. Despite Jonas Vingegaard being only 30 seconds behind at the top of the pass, Pogačar multiplied his advantage fivefold on the descent and valley road to Gavarnie, reclaiming the yellow jersey decisively. The race had started in Barcelona with a 19km team time trial won by Visma-LAB, with Vingegaard initially taking yellow, but Pogačar's dominant riding ultimately settled the contest.
