The PGA Tour’s unlikeliest contender had a week you can’t believe
Ben Kohles, a 35-year-old PGA Tour veteran, had an extraordinary six-day stretch that included winning the BMW Charity Pro-Am on the Korn Ferry Tour by four shots, qualifying for the U.S. Open through Final Qualifying in Maryland, and then finding himself contending for his first PGA Tour victory at the RBC Canadian Open, sitting T14 entering Saturday. Kohles was not originally in the RBC Canadian Open field, making his contention all the more remarkable. The sequence of events required him to literally sprint from his trophy ceremony to drive to Charlotte airport and travel between multiple events.
