Thomas 'not a fan' of Evenepoel's Tour de France strategy

Geraint Thomas, sports director at Netcompany INEOS, has voiced his skepticism about Remco Evenepoel's strategy of skipping build-up races ahead of the Tour de France, which begins in Barcelona in less than a month. Speaking on his podcast 'Watts Occurring', Thomas noted that Evenepoel, along with rivals Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard, are all absent from the Tour Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (formerly the Critérium du Dauphiné). While Thomas acknowledged that cycling preparation has evolved, with teams like Visma Lease a Bike prioritizing altitude camps over racing, he expressed he is 'not a fan' of the extended no-racing approach.
