Tielemans’ controversial late penalty caps Belgium comeback over Senegal
Belgium came back from 2-0 down to beat Senegal and advance to the last 16 of the World Cup, with Youri Tielemans scoring a controversial VAR-awarded stoppage-time penalty in the 122nd minute to seal the win. Belgium had trailed since the 85th minute after goals from Habib Diarra and Ismaïla Sarr, before substitute Romelu Lukaku and Tielemans struck twice in three minutes to force extra time. The decisive penalty was awarded after VAR official Guillermo Pacheco Larios spotted Lamine Kamara fouling Tielemans, with referee Saíd Martínez reversing his decision to hand Rudi Garcia's side a dramatic victory.
