Toews retires after 16 seasons, won Stanley Cup 3 times with Blackhawks

Jonathan Toews, 38, announced his retirement from the NHL on Friday after 16 seasons, making the announcement at the Jonathan Toews Sportsplex in Winnipeg, where he grew up. The three-time Stanley Cup champion (2010, 2013, 2015) with the Chicago Blackhawks finished his career with 912 points (383 goals, 529 assists) in 1,149 games split between Chicago and Winnipeg. Toews, the third-youngest captain in NHL history when appointed at age 20, won the 2010 Conn Smythe Trophy and was named among the 100 Greatest NHL Players in 2017, with his final season being 2025-26 with the Winnipeg Jets after a two-year absence due to illness.
