Tom Banton happy to halt red-ball career in search of World Cup spot for England

Tom Banton, who scored 371 for Somerset – their highest ever first-class score – less than 18 months ago, has indicated he is willing to step back from red-ball cricket to focus on white-ball formats. The Somerset batter is targeting a place in England's World Cup squad, prioritising his chances in limited-overs cricket over pursuing a multi-format international career. Despite his record-breaking first-class score once raising the possibility of him becoming an all-format England player, Banton has chosen to concentrate on the shorter formats.
