Toney trial for alleged assault during Euro 2028

England striker Ivan Toney, 30, appeared at Southwark Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, relating to an alleged headbutting and punching incident involving Saber Da Silva at a Wardour Street nightclub in central London on December 6 last year. Judge Christopher Hehir set a provisional trial date of June 12, 2028, which coincides with the UEFA Euro 2028 tournament that begins on June 9, 2028. Toney has made 10 international appearances for England, scoring one goal, and most recently represented the national team at the 2025 World Cup.
