Tour de France 2026: Mathieu van der Poel wins shortened ninth stage
Mathieu van der Poel won the ninth stage of the 2026 Tour de France in a sprint finish, claiming his third career Tour de France stage victory. The 31-year-old Dutchman finished ahead of Denmark's Tobias Johannessen and Great Britain's Tom Pidcock, with the stage from Malemort to Ussel shortened by 30km due to temperatures approaching 40°C. Tom Pidcock, who was chasing a second Tour stage win, was hampered by a mechanical problem with his chain cassette or derailleur.
