Tour de France final stage shortened as emergency teams tackle wildfires

The final stage (Stage 21) of the Tour de France on Sunday, July 26, 2026, has been shortened from 133km to 89km and rerouted due to wildfires raging in southwest France, with emergency services diverted from Paris to tackle the blazes. Riders will now begin the stage on the Champs-Elysees rather than the original starting point in Thoiry, west of Paris. The change was made to reduce pressure on first responders managing the wildfire crisis.
