Tour de France Stage 2 Preview

Stage 2 of the 2026 Tour de France is previewed ahead of Sunday, 5 July, with key interest focused on whether Mathieu van der Poel can match Tadej Pogačar. In Stage 1, Groupama-FDJ's Clément Berthet was injured in a crash and abandoned the race, while Cian Uijtdebroeks cramped and sits nearly two minutes down on GC. Evenepoel rode strongly for RedBull, gaining 16 seconds over his German rival, as Pogačar's UAE team lost riders mid-course during the Montjuïc climbs.
