Tour de France Stage Guide
The 2026 Tour de France route features 54,450 metres of vertical gain, making it the third most mountainous in the last 20 years, with seven summit finishes and a single 26km time trial, the third lightest for TT distance in two decades. The race begins in Barcelona with an early visit to the Pyrenees, and sprinters will have five clear opportunities to win stages. The route is designed to keep the overall result open late into the race, with mid-mountain stages expected to produce frantic finishes.
