Tour de France: Tadej Pogacar closes in on winning record-equalling fifth title as he extends lead with Alpe d'Huez victory

Tadej Pogacar won the 19th stage of the Tour de France with a stunning solo attack launched from the foot of Alpe d'Huez, catching Richard Carapaz and Lenny Martinez with 1.5km remaining to claim his fifth stage win of this year's race and 26th overall. The four-time Tour champion extended his overall lead with two stages remaining, putting him on the verge of a record-equalling fifth Tour de France title. Pogacar was more than three minutes behind with 12km to go before his decisive surge.
