Travelers Championship becomes first event added to PGA Tour's new Championship Series in 2028

The Travelers Championship has become the first tournament officially confirmed for the PGA Tour's new Championship Series, set to launch in 2028. The series, announced last month by PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp, will replace the current elevated/signature events model and feature roughly 23-24 events per season with fields capped at 120 players. The Hartford-based tournament had held signature/designated event status for the past four years, and tournament director Nathan Grube highlighted the event's economic impact and growth through its partnership with the PGA Tour.
