Tuchel says Alex Scott’s emergence gives England – and Rice – ‘high level’ competition

England manager Thomas Tuchel highlighted that Alex Scott's impressive performance in England's 7-0 away win against Croatia has created genuine competition for Declan Rice's midfield spot. Scott excelled in his first international start, partnering Elliot Anderson in midfield during Rice's absence, with Rice having withdrawn from the squad for load management reasons related to neural pain in his upper hamstring suffered during the World Cup. Tuchel emphasized the need for depth in midfield, stating 'we will not survive on two midfielders.'
