Two-division boxing world champion Zolani Tete shot dead

Former two-time boxing world champion Zolani Tete, 38, was shot and killed on Friday evening at approximately 6:30pm in Mdantsane, Eastern Cape, South Africa, as he arrived at his residence. Two unknown armed suspects wearing balaclavas ambushed Tete and a 27-year-old female passenger, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was hospitalised. Tete, who held the WBF Flyweight and WBO Bantamweight titles, died at the scene, and no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
