Two-hour storm break fails to stop France as Mbappé and Dembélé prove too good for Iraq
France defeated Iraq in Philadelphia despite a two-hour storm delay caused by severe thunderstorms, with Kylian Mbappé scoring twice and Ousmane Dembélé adding a third goal — his first at a major tournament. Mbappé's brace, the first a long-range strike and the second a tap-in following poor Iraqi defending, extended his personal scoring record. Manager Didier Deschamps was also able to rotate his squad, substituting Dembélé and Michael Olise around the hour mark to keep them fresh for future matches.
